Post-screening discussion led by Dr. Nancy Trun, microbiologist and associate professor at Duquesne University

The documentary Let Them Eat Dirt will be screened this month at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens as part of their environmental film screening and discussion series. This film looks at the role microbes play in the development, physical and mental health of our children, and argues that good health may begin with kids playing in the dirt.

After the viewing of the film, there will be a question-and-answer period led by Dr. Nancy Trun, microbiologist and associate professor at Duquesne University. She is currently working on how to clean up abandoned coal mine drainage in Western PA using the awesome power of bacteria.
